This one-of-a-kind version of "Lake Hills Creamsicles" combines the original digital painting with hand-applied gouache, creating a physical surface that is visibly different from the regular print.
The dahlia remains the focal point, with warm peach, coral, and orange petals rising against a deep berry background. Across that background, I added a dense network of looping and concentric lines by hand, building a layer of rhythm and movement around the simplified floral forms.
Because the gouache sits physically on top of the printed surface, the embellishment introduces subtle variations in line, texture, and paint application that can only exist in this particular piece. Viewed up close, those hand-painted marks contrast with the smooth matte print beneath them, making the transition between digital painting and physical mark-making especially visible.
The original artwork was based on dahlias growing in the Dahlia Corner at Bellevue Botanical Garden. This embellished version pushes the quieter background of the original into something more intricate and energetic while leaving the flower itself largely untouched.
Each painted line was applied individually by hand, making this a unique physical version of "Lake Hills Creamsicles" that will not be reproduced in exactly the same form.
