"Lake Hills Creamsicles" captures a dahlia in warm peach, coral, and orange tones, set against a deep berry background.
The layered petals and slender stem give the composition an upward sense of movement, while the simplified forms keep the piece clear and calm. The contrast between the glowing flower and darker ground gives the work a bright, uplifting presence without making it feel overly busy.
The painting was based on dahlias growing in the Dahlia Corner at Bellevue Botanical Garden, one of many local garden spaces that continue to inspire my floral work.
