"Peony 2" captures a full pink peony in bloom, inspired by a visit to the Bellevue Botanical Garden.
Layered petals in vivid pinks gather around a warm golden center, set against a muted green background that gives the flower room to stand forward. The simplified forms and restrained composition keep the piece calm and focused while preserving the fullness and movement of the bloom.
Peonies also carry longstanding significance in Chinese culture, where they are associated with prosperity, honor, and good fortune.
