This one-of-a-kind version of "Orchids" features hand-applied gold ink tracing the edges and contours of the cascading magenta blooms.
Compared with the original composition, this variation is cropped more closely around the flowers, bringing the orchids forward and giving the piece a fuller, more immersive presence. The gold linework catches the light with a subtle metallic shimmer, adding definition and dimension without overpowering the saturated pinks and magentas.
Set against a soft yellow background, the orchids feel both vibrant and serene. The work was inspired by orchids encountered during a summer visit to Japan, while also drawing on the flower’s long association in Chinese culture with refinement, grace, and beauty.
This piece began as part of my Kintsugi-inspired series, in which test prints and color variations were transformed through hand embellishment rather than discarded. Each finished work is unique and will not be reproduced in exactly the same form.
