This one-of-a-kind version of Daffodils is finished by hand with metallic gold ink, tracing selected edges of the white blooms, buds, and leaves.
Set against a deep crimson background, the gold linework catches the light and adds a subtle reflective dimension to the composition. The contrast between the white flowers, red ground, and metallic details gives the piece a strong presence while preserving the simplicity of the original floral forms.
Daffodils, or 水仙花 (shuǐxiānhuā), are associated in Chinese culture with good fortune, renewal, and new beginnings, making them especially resonant around Lunar New Year and the arrival of spring.
This piece began as part of my Kintsugi-inspired series, in which test prints and color variations were transformed through hand embellishment rather than discarded. Because the gold details were applied individually by hand, this is a unique physical version of Daffodils that will not be reproduced in exactly the same form.
